not at all ding! Enjoyed it and while maybe some people didn't get the point you was trying to make, in the random battles that I played following the lesson I was consciously more aware of the battle map and what was going on, so it was a help for me.

It was a good lesson, worth doing if you remember your seasick tablets next time Smile

If any of you want to try it the flipside method to help learn team comms/tactics and situational awareness in spades I find it great fun joining a company battle in hardcore mode. Look for them in the companies chat, get an invite and experience the fun!

how to teach about situational awareness..

Post  lazydot on Wed Feb 27, 2013 8:56 pm

I was wondering how the heck is Ding going to show it, because I think its a topic next to impossible to explain, maybe one can explain it in few hours like for what to look and when, etc. Personally, I was not able to imagine any reasonable training-battle scenario showing it. Well, seems like Ding found one. Well done!

Re: Special Lesson - Situational Awareness

Think it was a courageous attempt to approch a topic that is very difficult to teach. It's always worth to try new methods, but unfortunately the course of the training was quite chaotic. For me it was not really all the time clear what the students were expected to do and what the objectives are. There was a constant stream of voices in the chat and somewhere in between the rules had to be picked from it. I didn't catch one of them ("don't shoot") and have to admit that I was likely one of the first, if not the very first, to start shooting in the first match and thus spoiling it. Sorry for that.

An organisational suggestion would be that in a training the instructor should clearly announce when the class starts, when it ends and in between it should be essentialy him or her to talk and students should restrict their talk to topic related questions. It is also distracting when the instructor explains something and people drive and shoot around. Of course, this is neither Eton college nor a prussian drill-ground, but for the sake of understanding the instructor I would appreciate a little bit more class room spirit. Wink

Just some feedback. Hope you don't mind, Ding. Smile
