Excelsior tank.

Post  Arnold_Judas_Rimmer on Sat Jun 22, 2013 10:02 am

Hello. Firstly forgive me if I am not supposed to write in here yet. I have only played a few battles with this tank (30) but decided to start a thread on the tank because I read so much bad things about it on the forums( WOT forums) I wanted to help shed a different light on it.

I purchased it on a whim and have enjoyed playing it alot!

I read many bad things about the gun and have noticed something very positive about the lack of penetration. Because it is low and bounces are frequent I decided to spend alot longer aiming my shots and picking the various module points. I have been learning from this 3d website linked from your very own forums.

The penetration is terribly low.. and thus it is a blessing! for it forces you the player to pick your weak spots and aim with care.

This is the crit shots I got last game ( it is usual to get this many or close) 6 tracks, 2 engine, 2 ammo rack, 1 turret, 1 driver and 1 loader, 3 commander.

in most battles I find it it better to take on the role of medium and go kill the scouts and meds if you can.. it certainly is not going to excel (see what I did there) at going head on with a heavy tank from what I can gather.

at tier 5 the armour is ok and ive been learning to angle in the training room and it is helping alot. I also watched a video of a guy who wiggles his tank as he thinks the enemy will fire and it has worked 2 times!

So sorry this is not very technical or precise perhaps it could be added to or moved if it does not fit the guide section. I will if possible edit it and add to it in more glorious detail once I sort the armor model images and find some info on the tanks specs.

In essence thus far im playing it like a medium tank and aiming with great care.. il keep you posted.

Hey Arnold! Smile Appreciate your initiative on starting a thread, we really appreciate it and indeed encourage you to do more ^^

However, I do keep the tank archives section of the forums reserves exclusively for tank guides per se. Your thread seemed to lack a bit of detail (maybe have a look at the other guides? ^^ )

Anyways, I'm just gonna move this thread to the ' General Discussion' section of the forums. Hope you don't mind ^^

Even more so since the update it's really effective to "wiggle" if you are expecting a shell incoming, it's much harder to penetrate a moving tank!

Oh, and welcome to SGTA Smile

I've seen people do it down a lot over the pen, but honestly, it's very very similar stats to the T14 has, and some people make that work very well.  So while I won't get one myself I think, in the right hands it could do some damage certainly.
