interesting protection strategy

Saw an interesting protection strategy used by a full health tank to protect its nearly deceased brother.

It's called shielding, and it's a prerequisite of CW and High tier TC

Shielding is one of the two main parts of Team Damage Management.

If you take damage for a teammate, he will live longer.
If your teammate lives longer, he can fire more shots.
If your teammate can fire more shots, he can do more damage to the enemy team.
If your teammate does more damage to the enemy team, your team has a total higher damage output.

The second part is focussing fire.
If you (team) focus your fire on a single enemy tank, you kill one enemy before damaging another.
If you kill one enemy before damaging another, the enemy will have one less tank firing back at you.
If you enemy has one less tank firing at you, your team has a higher total damage output.

The greater the difference in damage being dealt by either team, the greater the difference in chance to win the game.
As mentioned, Clan Wars and Tank Companies are fully reliant on this principle.

This is a guide for Starcraft and Starcraft II, isn't it? Um, right, not directly Razz
It's a essential rule for ALL teamfight based games Wink

I'm trying to do so in random games, but it often ends with shot in your back or even ammo rack (happened once to me Rolling Eyes ), or complains about covering the enemy Mad or even insults that I did it in purpose to secure the kill Evil or Very Mad etc., etc...
"He would kill you with one shot while your reload, you idiot, you won't do shit" I'd like to say sometimes, but not touching "Enter" key is the key to have fun and half way to not rage in random games Smile

I found out what works is if you face more than one enemy in duo to let your random mate shot and than cover him, probably he take 0-1 shot, you cover him till he reloads and in meantime you shoot. In most cases this prevent ally hits more, than trying to shoot from behinde him. This way you know you have free line of fire and can dictate time when you go out of cover.

Edit after seen the video: this of course work better when bigger tank cover smaller tank

i recon that it could be a supreme tactic using a low profile heavy armored tank like t95 to absorb the hits and a tall tank behind it with strong gun mantlet like the americans or e100

Be careful with putting a Heavy behind a TD, especially in randoms. TDs have higher camo values, so the heavy will be detected before the TD. Enemy will then shoot at the heavy, but hit the TD, possibly damaging him when he otherwise wouldnt have. For a T95 this usually isnt much of a problem, but be very careful with this.
