The story of Mr. VK

Post  Wasp on Thu May 09, 2013 9:48 am

Disclaimer: Wall of text approaching, I warned you!

Hey hey hey Very Happy

One year has passed so fast...
I had to check the date twice but it seems to be true.
On the 9th May 2012 I joined SGTA with ~ 7000 battles under my belt, in order to show new players how to enjoy this great game even more.

It was the time when the whining about the rising number of noobs in WoT started.
I was always of the opinion that people should actually do something about it, instead of whining all day long.
I luckily stumbled about Ding's post about founding an academy for people who want to learn within a relaxed atmosphere and I immediately offered my help as an instructor.
Even though I was 17 and was not meeting the 18+ requirement, I somehow convinced him to take me on board... Rolling Eyes

Here we were now, eight or ten instructors waiting for students to come.
And they came.

The first guy I remember was an impatient BT-2 driver, who liked to rush around on the fields of malinovka.
48% WR and 800 battles strong he started to post some of his replays and asked me to analyse them, but that was just the beginning...
We spent hours and hours in a training room, just doing 1 on 1 battles in T 50s till he agreed that he knows enough about scouting and circling now.
Most of you might now this BT-2 driver.
He likes to rage and his BT-2 grew into a T-54 now.
Lazy has 13k battles and has become even better than me.
He was my first student and I think he is a great example of how SGTA can help the ambitious player to improve.

But lazy wasn't the last student to knock on our doors.

Some day a finnish guy showed up and asked for some lessons.
We ended up platooning the whole night and I think the only real lesson I can remember was with two E-75s on Widepark where I set him on fire twice.
I think he is still mad about that.
One year has past and this guy is the Deputy Commander of SGTA and got the Leo I before me. Razz

Another event worth mentioning is the first TC I played with Jasmin as FC.
I still don't know how he did it but we were joking and trash talking all the time and still raping everything the enemy threw at us with ease.
He made his way on my friends list, but I still can't forgive him that he got this evil black stars on his type. Wink

Within a few weeks a routine of regular platooing and TC-ing established itself.
I got to know all of you a little bit better and we played some awesome toons with Brit in his famous Grille.
He always kept an eye on us from above and supported us in the right moment.
Even if the helping shot set me on fire and not the enemy...
Brit provides a neverending source of jokes and wisdom, so if you can grab him sometime get him into a platoon and never let him go again! (discussions about fast food always do the job quiet well) Razz

Everything went smooth and SGTA became more and more famous.
The quiet days were definitely over as a greek man applied to join our ranks.
He was rushing over us like a herd of beta ponies and wanted to know simply everything about german tanks.
So I took him for a spin in my VK to try to show him the principles of angling a tank.
At some point we found a goose on the fields of malinovka and every hope on serious training was gone.

There are a million more names to mention:
The Berlin City Crew, the dutch old rockerboy which whom I had the most funniest tier 9 grind ever, the guy with his trattoria, a mysterious person from transilvania/ ehmm croatia, Scottere, Ms. white coffee, El Sid
and as many names there are, there are also as many stories to tell.

What I want to say is, thank you very much for being you guys, for all these stories and memories and this awesome community.
I hope to still see you around for the next year(s).

" I am going to teach some guys how to drive a tank properly"
Friends of mine will always condescend with a smile but something is always pulling me back towards this game and the guys I play it with.

Cheers

Yeah, I wanted to write same words. My person won't be remembered by any chance. There's too many students to be special at something, at least for me since I'm not very confident to talk much in english Embarassed
But! my efficiency is growing very fast which I can see in stats, so maybe I'll surprise you, with something, for some time. For now I just can thank commanders for inviting me to SGTA and Wasp for commanding me trough TC's Smile

Twice, in a row. And yes.
And the platoons in themselves were (are) lessons Wink .
And that video clip you linked to me? That's how I feel when I play favourite tank.

When you're reading this you suddenly realize how the time flies.

I specialised in scouting in arty on Himmlesdorf, shooting our best TD player in the arse for 800 dmg, insulting the FC/Deputy Commander and showing my vile racism on youtube videos!

So, I am remembered/immortalised, but maybe not for the best reasons Smile

It's great to see you're enjoying the game. I reckon that WoT wouldn't be the same game if it weren't for the guys that we all platoon with, share the good and the bad times, complain about stuff (arty I'm lookin' at you Very Happy ), etc.
Rock on mate! Wink

@behemoth Same here hehe... I wish I tooned more in the early days Smile
