Greetings.

Post  Barbellz on Fri Apr 05, 2013 10:21 pm

I had a nice session with Lazydot the other night, and he suggested to me that I should check this place out.

At the moment I'm looking to learn more about the game and to find my niche in the world (of tanks).

A little about me:

I'm 28 years old, of the male sex and I'm currently employed as a social worker. I like to do weight lifting (which sort of explains the silly name), playing basketball, miniature painting (just bought this awesome game: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coolminiornot/zombicide-season-2?ref=activity), drinking (beer, beer, beer...) and of course gaming.

In the past I was very hardcore, playing WoW at times up to 12-16 hours a day. In the end being in good guilds and having the right pixels was not worth ruining my life over, so at the moment I'm a casual gamer with a "play hard, play smart and play to win"-mentality.

My favourite tanks are TDs and mediums. I value mobility over just about any other feature on a tank, but I do play some slower vehicles like the VK3601. My favourite tank is the T49 (yes, I like it more than the M18 - blasphemy!), and my dream tank is probably the T-54 although the new german medium line looks perfect for me.

I doubt it matters anything, but my global win rate is just over 54% and I've played close to 1800 games.

Just wanted to say hi and to warn you - I'll be lurking!

Have a nice weekend, and if you're looking for someone to platoon with in the tier 5-6 range, hit me up, please.

Cheers,

Barbellz

Heya! Nice to meet you! Smile

Ah yes...the WoW conundrum...dangerous stuff it is...

Anyways....with only less than 2000 games you are still relatively new, and already platooning with lazydot means you are well on your way to doing well.

Ever considered joining us? Not to mean to put more pressure on you or Vallu but it'll be merrier with more constructive people who wants to learn in the academy Smile

Hey there!

I'm grinding crew-skills on my KV-1S, so I'm always up for a tier 6 toon! I need as many skills as possible to be able to utilize my tank as good as possible in TC's Smile

If you want to give SGTA a try just send an application in the 'Applications' section of the forums. You will be put on a waiting list though...seems demand for places lately are a bit high.

Welcome Barbellz, it seems a good step to getting into SGTA is to register on the forums (which you seem to have already done) and send an app form in. As long as you are active on both -forums and in game, im sure the higher forces in the clan will sort you out ... as they did for me Very Happy

If you like speed... you should get the Batchat 25t...
For close range shenanigans, T-54 is devastating, but don't underestimate the handling of the US tanks.

In general, one should not only care about speed, but also about how well a tank handles speedy situations.
This is evident in turn speed and accuracy on the move. For example, while Batchat 25t is very fast, it has fairly poor handling evident in speed bleed during turning and somewhat poor turn speed in general. Its somewhat poor stabilizer combined with high speed also makes it very unfeasible to fire on the move, especially due to the do or die nature of its combat style.
The m48 Patton (Patton mk III) on the other hand, is much slower, but it has excellent handling, perfect stabilizer and armor that exists. This means the tank is more suitable for brawling than the burst dependent Batchat. Now, since you're interested in T-54, I'll just give you an overview of T-62A.
It's a big role change. Whereas T-54 is THE close range medium tank, T-62A is a long distance mobile sniper with good close combat performance. Due to its thinner armor and bigger size along with worse mobility than T-54, it's unfeasible as a "charge" tank unlike the T-54, whom is able to use its very sloped 120mm (giving it 240-260mm effective armor) to defend itself.
However, the turn speed and excellent handling of the T-62A combined with its extreme rate of fire (5.5 sec load time on 320 dmg gun compared to about 7 on T-54), makes the T-62A an excellent circler. The stabilizer is also on par with US tanks.
Now you mentioned you prefer the T49 over the Hellcat, and that is understandable considering the DPM of T49 with its very fast firing gun is higher than the slow firing 240 dmg gun on Hellcat, the playstyle, however, is not the same as a T-54, but more akin to a Batchat or T54E1.
